Please.... vacuum out my pores!!
I remember when I was young standing in front of my bathroom mirror putting masking tape over my nose and ripping it off, trying to get rid of those horrible black pores on my nose. Squishing my nose from side to side watching the “squirming worms” work their way out of my skin. Yes it’s gross but who am I kidding, I was still doing this 30 years later!!!
I followed the advice of many a friend to use face scrubs, facial wipes, nose pore cleaners, alcohol wipes, toothpaste and facials, but even with the facials there was still squeezing of the pores!
Surfing the internet I came across Hydrafacial which apparently vacuumed your pores. I could almost feel the blackheads popping out of my skin! How exciting! But what makes this treatment so different from all the others?
Hydrafacial performs painless extractions on clogged pores, exfoliates dead skin cells and rids the skin of excess oil by using a gentle suction that avoids irritating the skin. Unlike microdermabrasion, which uses a more abrasive method to clear the skin’s surface, Hydrafacial deposits a medical grade serum to assist loosening the debris while vacuuming the surface with a spiral silicone tip.
There are four steps to the Hydrafacial process.
The first step is a deep cleanse. The second step is exfoliation using a Salicylic and Glycolic peel to loosen the dead skin cells and to prepare the pores. When I first heard the word “peel” I thought I may be leaving the clinic with a peeling face however it is only strong enough to loosen the unwanted dead skin and loosen up those stubborn blackheads.
The third step is the extraction of the blackheads and sebum dirt by using the silicone tipped pen. An AHA/BHA solution is used to loosen this debris and then sucking it all up. It does feel a little scratchy but it doesn’t even rate on the uncomfortable scale, I could happily chat away while this process was being performed!
The fourth step is infusing an amazing hydrating solution of antioxidants, essential nutrients, hyaluronic and peptides back into the skin and this feels absolutely amazing. This rehydrates the skin and provides protection against pollution.
The treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes and whilst I was talked through each stage of the treatment, I wasn’t prepared to see the tank of dirty solution that came from my face. It was terrible but exciting at the same time!
I did come up a little pink after my treatment which is completely normal, however this disappeared within 5 to 10 minutes. As the day went on I noticed my skin looking cleaner and fresher with a natural dewy glow to it. Normally I would put makeup on however my skin looked so good I didn’t need it.
To promote long term skin health, it is recommended at the start to have 3 treatments a month apart followed by maintenance very 6-8 weeks to keep your skin at its optimum best. For those who just want a pep me up every now and again or to do a little extra for that special event, this is perfect also as it you can see an instant improvement.
To say I was impressed was an understatement. We are proud to announce we have this wonderful treatment available at Laser Hair Removal At The Bay & On Unley at our Glenelg clinic and it is enthusiastically received by our clients.
Come and try it you’ll love it!
