With years of formulation experience, Medik8 know exactly what should be in and what should be left out of a formulation. Medik8 are always learning and constantly seeking to improve our products.
There are thousands of active ingredients available. Excellence comes from not just the selection of these actives, but the way they are put together into a formula. Each of the Medik8 solutions have a core ingredient range that features in every product. For example, oxyresveratrol is used throughout their brightening solutions and salicylic acid is a key decongesting ingredient in their blemishes solution. Medik8’s ingredients are scrupulously hand-picked based on their research-backing, affinity for the skin and exceptional effects on the complexion.

Ingredient Choice
Medik8 carefully research each and every ingredient that they choose to put into their formulations. This involves studying research that proves the ingredient has the desired effect and, of course, checking all regulatory aspects. They assess its safety data alongside the general internet response to the ingredient and weight this up against its claims before allowing it in their formulations. This means you get only the best.
Using only skin-safe ingredients, Medik8 avoid anything which is deemed unsafe or unfriendly by the EU. Medik8 are also SLS-free, free from phthalates and palm oil and try to avoid synthetic fragrance and colour wherever possible.
Preservatives
Medik8 are happy to be 100% paraben-free. Preservatives are an essential part of any cosmetic formulation – they stop our products from deteriorating over time. And although the majority of preservatives are found to be safe, Medik8 would rather find alternative solutions. They have replaced parabens with alternative preservation systems to keep their products safe and stable.
Small Batch Production
Intricate formulas require care to produce. Handcrafted in small batches, MediK8 serums guarantee freshness and potency. Many effective ingredients in skincare are unstable and difficult to work with, so having a hands on approach ensures each customer benefits from powerful and effective formulas. Providing lab-fresh products to customers is one example of the many ways MediK8 ensues freshness and potency of all their formulas.
Vegan-Friendly
Medik8 understand that having a beauty regime filled with vegan skincare is beneficial for the planet and your skin. Almost all MediK8 products can be used by vegans and do not contain any animal ingredients. The only exceptions are Ultimate Recovery, which is not vegan-friendly as it features silk serica, and Balance Moisturiser, which includes an ingredient called lactobacillus that is not from animal origin but it made using milk in the production process.
Cruelty Free
As per European regulation, Medik8 never test on animals. And Medik8 never ask any other company to test on their behalf.
Unfortunately, many of the most common ingredients used in cosmetics have been tested on animals in the past (never by us). But testing on animals has been banned in the EU for over 15 years, and the latest EU cosmetic regulations (2013) prevent the use of ingredients tested on animals after the cut off date. Medik8 take the matter of checking their compliance very seriously as an integral part of their product development and supplier selection process.

Allergies
Medik8 are very aware that some of their customers will have specific allergies which they need to look out for. Some of Medik8’s products contain nut or wheat derivatives and we would always suggest thoroughly checking the ingredients list on the product if you have allergies. Ingredients lists can be found on Medik8’s product pages as well as our ingredient glossary for more detailed descriptions of some of their key actives. Green Cosmeceuticals
Medik8 are dedicated to minimising the impact on the environment whenever they can. This is taken into account at each stage of development of their products, from the initial research to the final manufacturing. The cardboard Medik8 source for their packaging is from well managed woodlands and recycled fibre, and is fully recyclable and biodegradable.
